Events / Outings

Several members of Kings Hill attended the Summer School at Chichester in June, run by the South East Area Forum. I am in fact one of the chief organisers. 12 courses were on offer ranging across a wide variety of topics – bridge, Maths, Psychology, Walking, knitting, mah jong to name a few. The School takes place on the University campus at Chichester, which is close to the town centre & The Festival Theatre. The weather was lovely for us again this year, which makes for an enjoyable time. The new academic block gives state of the art rooms in which the courses are held. There is also a social programme including drinks receptions, quix night, film on campus & this year a local Community choir entertained us. Usually we manage to get tickets for the theatre for those who want to go, but this year we were unable to secure any despite being in the queue for them on the appropriate day. Better luck next year !

Many thanks to the team from Kings Hill who helped me with the Quiz night & in ascertaining who would have liked to go to the theatre.

I think several of the bridge group played long into the evenings, ably assisted by bottles of wine to keep them hydrated ! The ukulele group mainly started from scratch but were able to give us a concert on the final morning- shows what progress you can make.

It makes for a great few days away. You can learn something but equally it is a sociable time when you meet new people of like mind to yourself. All the tutors are U3A members so do not charge for their services so the price is very reasonable. The food is pretty good though.

Why not give it a try next year? We have agreed the dates June 24th – 27th and begun planning it all already. Get the date into your diary and talk to those who went this year to hear all about it.
