A visit to Leonardslee Gardens on Thursday 23rd May

Described as the ‘Finest Spring Gardens in England’, the 240-acre Leonardslee estate at Lower Beeding, near Horsham in West Sussex, has beautiful landscaped Grade I listed gardens, first planted in 1801 where we can see the outstanding spring displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias and bluebells.

There are numerous walks to explore throughout the 240 acres of grade I listed gardens, parkland, lawns and forest areas, including a number of very rare trees and shrubs.

You can explore a wide range of features including the elegant 19th-century Italianate-style Mansion House, listed Grade II for architectural merit, the unique dolls’ house exhibition.

The estate is home to an extraordinary range of wildlife including foxes, rabbits, grey squirrels, badgers, weasels, stoats, shrews, voles, huge carp in the seven ponds and the now famous wallabies.

We will leave by coach from Kings Hill at approximately 9.00 am hoping to arrive at Leonardslee no later than 10.30am and leaving for the return journey at approx 3.30pm

The price of the trip incudes admission to Leonardslee and lunchtime refreshments comprising of tea/coffee, hot meal, slice of cake. This will be taken in the Clock Tower café.

For those wishing it a guided tour of the garden can be arranged. The tour would be led by the head gardener, would be for a minimum of 15 people and would cost an extra £8.00 per person. Please indicate if you would like to take this tour.
