DAY TRIP TO SEE TUTANKHAMUN EXHIBITION ON MONDAY 9 MARCH, 2020.
(This trip has already proved so popular that this is the earliest date we can get.)
A unique opportunity to see, in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the tomb discovery, the boy king's priceless tomb artifacts. They will visit London one final time while a new permanent resting place for the treasures is constructed at the Grand Egyptian Museum. Over 150 stunning authentic tomb objects, 60 on display outside Egypt for the first time, showcase the spectacular artistry of the boy king's 3,300-year-old treasure.
The show is at The Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. Over 150 artifacts are coming to London, more than were shown at The O2 and more than at the original blockbuster show at the British Museum in 1972. Sixty of the finds in the new show have never left Egypt before, but it won’t include the famous death mask which has been deemed too fragile to leave Egypt.
We travel by coach from Kings Hill to arrive at the National Army Museum at midday for time to buy lunch and then a Blue Badge Guide will join our coach for a guided tour as described below with a break for tea before visiting the exhibition at 4pm.
We leave the Museum to drive through Kensington & Chelsea and turn the clocks back to the Roaring Twenties. We see where Howard Carter was born and where he died. Discover how the fashion for Tutankhamun and Ancient Egypt influenced everything from art and architecture to shopping. From the first Thomas Cook package tours to the Middle East to the novels of Agatha Christie - it’s an irresistible combination of high adventure, romance, and history.
We will head home at 6.30pm on much quieter roads.
The total price includes travel by executive coach, admission to the exhibition and the services of a Blue Badge Guide.
We have to pay a deposit of £21 (so please ensure we receive this with your booking), then a balance of £29 by the end of February 2020.
