PICKLE BALL

The aim is to have fun, socialise and get fit in a way that is suitable for the age range of typical U3A members. Pickleball is a cross between table tennis and badminton. Played on badminton size court but with 3 foot high net, large table tennis type bat, a hollow plastic ball and is usually played as doubles.

It is a game ideally suited for the U3A age group where skill is the most important factor and you can be playing after just 10 minutes instruction. Comfortable clothing suitable for racquet sports should be worn whilst nonslip soled shoes are a requirement. Equipment is provided, instruction given and your existing racquet skills are readily transferred to Pickleball.

We now play at Larkfield Leisure Centre  fortnghtly at 10am - 11am .Please arrive by 9.45 to confirm numbers and pay on entry which is £1.70 for over 65s that aren’t members of the centre.

Court is £9 per hour divided by number of players. Equipment is supplied but you may wish to buy your own paddle.

Larkfield Leisure Centre has free parking.

The 9 Holers Golf Group started up in April this year and has now grown to include 12 members.

It’s for Kings Hill U3A members who are not part of a golf club but now want to play a sociable round of golf on a “play when you fancy it basis” Its based it on 9 holes as a start because now we are all  getting older and 18 can be a bit too much sometimes. Some members prefer to play to play 18 which is fine because this is a group with very few rules. We have all exchanged e-mail addresses and then when we fancy a game we just copy in the members  with a suggested day and approximate start time and usually one or more will take it up. Poult Wood Golf Club  is both reasonably close and priced but if someone wants to play at Leeds Castle for example and can find someone to join them that is just great. If anyone is interested and would like some more information please feel free to contact me.

We are a friendly group of people who meet monthly. Members bring topics they wish to discuss of national, local or personal interest which they present/introduce to the rest of the group and then informal discussion is invited. There is no pressure to bring items for discussion, and what is said in the room stays in the room!

The group meets on the 1st Monday of the month in the afternoon at Kings Hill Golf Club
